For those of you who don’t know, I live in New Zealand. But I’m an American. I’m writing an article for the school magazine about what Americans think of New Zealanders.
I have a favour to ask of YOU! And it will only take about a minute, I promise! If you’re an American, I need your opinion on what you think a typical New Zealander is like. New Zealanders have so many different hobbies that this quiz is too hard.

1. Exploring, watching T.V., reading. It probably doesn’t make much of a difference between people other than their likes and dislikes.
2. I would imagine a New Zealander wearing jeans, a t-shirt, probably a jacket, and heavy duty sneakers or boots.
3.VEGEMITE! but probably local vegetables and a good steak.
4. I think that New Zealand is probably beautiful and has wonderful rolling hills going to the sea and mountains that if you reached the peak, you could see to the ocean.

i’m not quite sure whats this survey is about i hope that you are enjoying our beautiful country and everybody is treating with our warm friendly ways. you are right about all the sterotypes that new zealand has attached to it. because a few people have seen some maori or pacific island citizens on the telly everybody thinks there is no european families. well i hate to break it to them, roughly 65% of all of our population is normal everyday european.and yes we speak english, no we are not part of Australia and not everyone walks around doing the haka; scaring the tourists. New Zealand is a great place to live and it is a wonderful place to visit, people out there that actually believe all these stereotypes are missing out on a great visit to our great long cloud. and i promise that not a single person will get tampled on by a moa.

kiwis love to play rugby, go to the beach and most of the girls like to shop.

there is no one particular stereotype of a new zealander. there are pakehas, maoris, asians, pacific islanders plus many others. we are not all bushmen that wear tramping boots. city folk wear trendy gear and farmers wear denim denim and more denim.. matched with a flanel shirt hehe.

fresh fish!! because nz is so skinny and coastal. hangis are good and traditional and pavlova (its a desert) is a big hit. lots of crayfish! tui is a big hit with the boys and you cant go wrong with 42 below vodka, home grown!

Hi! I no it is summer, BUT you can use this for next year. I moved from NZ when i was 8 to Sydney, Australia, and to the the coast of California two months ago. My American friends tell me these answers:
1. Our sports and hobbies are very unique and kind of weird, but surfing and water sports are normal.
2. Australians from ages around 14-29 all look like Hollister models, and the guys are just gorgeous. Also we wear Uggs a lot.
3. American Food (like cheeseburgers, ect.) and maybe kangaroos (?)
4. Very hot, nice waves, nice people, hot guys, beautiful things EVERYWHERE!!!
5. A mix between British and Canadian and American. They think my accent is awesome and they try to talk like me when i try to talk like them.
6. It seems like a cool place to be!

2. people from china, vietnam, taiwan, and korea have settled there to make a diverse mix of looks. the modern country contains modern clothing commonly made in sheepskin and or leather. Rugby shirts are also a favourit.
3. the new zealand people eat a variety of foods such as kiwi, pies, vegemite, ginger beer, bannana sandwiches, pavlovas, and roast lamb.
4.the new zealand people are independant and srong. they have fun and outgoing personalities. they are kind and not hostile to the torist.
5.the two main languages spoken in new zealand are english and maori, the new zealand people also have a light accent.
6. new zealand is in the south pacific. the population id 3.65 million. the national anthem is titled God Defend New Zealand People and is written in 3 versions.

We are passionate about sport especially rugby, hospitality and perserving our beautiful country

We wear normal clothes just like everyone else, some of the comments i’ve read on here are so far off the mard and funny to read. We are a multi-cultural country with all diffrents colours shapes and sizes.

We eat a variety of food including from popular fast food outlets like McDonalds and Subway, We have an abundance of fresh seafood because NZ is a coastal country. We have delicaceys like Mutton and Maori still eat traditional foods like Hangi which is mainly eaten during a celebration

We don’t sound like AUSTRALIANS thats for sure. I don’t know how to describe it. Maybe close to a British Accent but not that posh. Australians have a stronger accent than us ours is more softer.
